Should I Be Concerned?

Leah informed me today that the voices in her head were arguing with one another. I figured it was something she heard on tv. Later, however, she randomly started laughing.

“What’s so funny?” I asked.

“One of the voices in my head just told me a really funny joke!”

  1. It’s funny how expressing that idea in different ways elicits different responses. Imaginary friends are more acceptable than “voices in your head,” (but only to a certain extent), but the simple act of thinking of something that makes you laugh isn’t considered strange at all.

I know the feeling though. My dog randomly barks at this one corner next to the ceiling of our bedroom. There’s nothing there. Nothing moving. He only barks once and then loses interest. Now just what the heck is that about?

    • It is funny! I am sure these are just her thoughts, but to her they are voices. That is how she describes it anyway 🙂 I think that pets and small children can see things that we don’t. My infant son is always looking over my shoulder and laughing at something that, to me, isn’t there.

  2. I remember Kayden went through something like that and it freaked me out. But mainly he was sayin that a voice was telling him to be bad. But he was so adamant about it that I almost took him to see a psych. Thankfully he grew out of it. 🙂
